BRAZILIAN GABRIEL COSTA NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR

One of the students from Brazil that G6:9 Foundation has been able to provide opportunity is true freshman midfielder Gabriel Costa who was named the PacWest Player of the Year in 2019.

Costa had an outstanding rookie campaign, scoring 13 goals and 12 assists for a total of 38 points on the year. Costa scored a goal in seven straight matches for the Cougars, including a two-goal performance against Hawai'i Hilo. Costa finished in the top-five in the PacWest in goals, points, and assists.

Costa finished the year with 14 goals and 13 assists, including six game-winning goals. In 14 of the Cougars' 20 matches, Costa registered either a goal or an assist. In the first round of the NCAA playoffs, Costa helped lead the Cougars to a victory over Cal State L.A., as he scored a goal and had an assist in the win.
